An Eastside Summer, Kept Close to Home: Pelham, Haywood, and the Parks in Between

For a long time the Eastside was the part of Greenville you drove through on the way to somewhere else. Downtown for dinner. GSP for a flight. Simpsonville or Greer for a weekend. The Pelham Road and Haywood Road corridors were understood as errands, not evenings.

Summer 2026 is the first season where that framing stops fitting. The retail along Haywood is refreshing itself, a mid-sized dining and entertainment project is landing on Beacon Drive this fall, and two under-used county parks sit close enough to the density that a Saturday can be built entirely inside the ZIP code. If you already live on the Eastside, the thesis of this post is small but useful: the corridor has quietly caught up to itself, and the next three months are worth planning around what's near you rather than what's downtown.

What actually changed at Haywood Mall this year

Haywood Mall is easy to file mentally as "the mall" and leave it there. That would miss the fact that the state's largest indoor center is running through the biggest lineup change it has done in years.
